It finally happened. It’s been expected by super geeks and industry bods for a while but Apple have finally taken the plunge and released a wireless enabled i-pod:
The latest version also sports the new touchscreen interface from the i-phone and upgraded versions of the classic i-pod as well as an even smaller i-pod nano. Somehow they have increased the pixel density of the screen…no I don’t know what that means either but it sounds impressive.
Better yet – the new i-pod release is happening in the UK as well, leading to the slightly strange situation where i-phone technology (the touch screen) is available over here before the original device. After the year long wait for tv shows on i-tunes I’m not complaining.
The oddness continues with a very large disparity in memory between the i-pod touch (that’s the touchscreen one at 16GB) and the i-pod classic (that’s the old style at 160GB). Guess that’s down to the gizmos for the touchscreen pushing out the space for memory.
Anyway if anyone wants to know what I want for Christmas…
