Yesterday, I finally broke ground on the rewrite of Chapter One. Anya, my protaganist has run, literally, into the story and I can see my way through most of the work on this chapter.

To be fair, because I often start the first draft with either the beginning or end of the story, this section has been through more than three rewrites and so the majority of the work is fine tuning. This is careful, slow work, as the beginning is very dark, walking a thin line between drawing the reader in and totally turning them off – a very hard thing to do.

In general I’m a bit wary about this rewrite as the test readings of the second draft went well and I don’t want to bugger it up.

Anyway, I left off last night at the point where my eyelids were refusing to co-operate further (just as Vedic appears for the first time) but I really didn’t want to as I was having too much fun, hopefully a good sign.

Oh and I painted a fence. I know, it’s a crazy life I lead.
