Just occasionally you (the BBC) really get my goat.
I can use my Mac to watch content on most sites, yes I had to download a plugin (the excellent flip4mac) in order to do so but it works. Yet on the BBC’s site I cannot watch any content – even though I pay my license fee – because I choose to use an operating system that is actually usable. Grrr.
Also, when you choose to cover internet related stories please could you use people who understand how it works rather than journalists who have yet to get over the extinction of the typewriter: it’s 2007 not 1987. I’m available at a reasonable rate.
Just thought I’d share that.
Bill Thompson’s pretty good, and I like ‘Digital Planet’. But ‘Click’ is both smug and useless, and my Ubuntu laptop refuses to do business with RealPlayer.
Yeah I’ve never get on with RealPlayer, I can’t get it to run on my PC or my Mac.
A bizarre choice of platform for them.
Defnintely a mistake on the part of major sites like this, to provide the content in a format that even Flip4Mac cannot read. It’s such an obvious perfect compromise; just make the wmv content in the standard format, so us Mac’rs can watch with F4M.
