I’m getting to the stage in my current work-in-progress where the characters occasionally go off on rants I hadn’t expected, at this stage in the drafting process I let them do that, often they produce things that become more useful when looking back over the themes. There’s been a post battle ethical musing by a very old character.
It’s left me musing on life and ethics and what might be my credo.
I try, though not always successfully, to live by the following:
1. You only get one life: enjoy it.
2. Think for yourself
3. Do the least amount of harm you can.
4. Help where you can.
5. Don’t sweat the stuff you can’t change.
I guess these are a combination of how I was brought up, my experience and my rationalist nature.
What about you?
