I am unwell. I don’t do unwell terribly gracefully as I’m pretty unwilling to admit I’m actually ill.

I do silly things like going into work, or logging in from home or stripping wallpaper. However there is one ailment that strikes me from time to time that leaves a mewling, gibbering wreck.

No it’s not Big Brother.

It’s a migraine and I had one today. Been nearly a year since my last one but this one was a biggie.

It’s not the headache part, that’s just a case of taking some painkillers and getting your head down for a few hours – kind of like a hard reboot of your brain – it’s the ghosting.

Ghosting, for those of you who don’t know, are little shoots of white light that migraine sufferers see as the first stage of a migraine. I don’t freak out about them now but before I knew what they were it was hugely upsetting as whilst you are having an attack you can’t actually see properly. Men are pretty visual creatures anyway but given my principal enjoyments are reading and writing ghosting is the devil’s work.

It’s rather like looking out through broken glass, you can kind of make out what’s going on but not really. Anyway so that’s me today, gibbering on the sofa like a baby whilst my head felt like it was being chewed on by some creature from an unmentionable lovecraftian nightmare.

Needless to say I’ve done nought interesting but if you’re in need of stimulation you could read Neil G’s blog, he’s in Mantua on what sounds like a hellacious publicity tour, or if you’d prefer something more in the humour line check out Mister Peace and guest blogger Betty Anne.

Happy surfing, I’m going to strip wallpaper.
