I’m back.
First off some apologies: as constant readers will know I intended to have content for Wednesday and Friday of last week but failed to live up to this promise. This was due to a combination of some technical problems with my Internet connection (my mobile while I was away) and not completing my flash in time.
I had a good time although I seem to be paying for it today – I have felt better.
In the meantime here’s the entry from Wednesday morning of last week that I drafted in my notebook:
Amongst the Dales
I rather rashly promised content for today. I’m not entirely sure where I thought I’d fit the time in over the weekend to produce content between reading both tutors books and spending time with G. Ah well.
I could write a review of either those tutors’ books but no one would believe me as I can no longer claim to be unbiased – I’ve met them both and they’re nice people I admire. I will say you could do worse than pick up Snow by Adam Roberts or Keeping it Real by Justina Robson.
The course is interesting. Not least because of the time it allows for writing. I’d be lying if my painfully shy reserved nature wasn’t a slight impediment. I have however completed one story (The Room) in first draft and written the first part of a new story (Brothers), quite productive. (NB – this was followed by a twenty-four hour period where I couldn’t get Brothers to work no matter what I tried. So it goes.)
There is a reading on Friday, five minutes each, and so I’ll need to come up with some flash. I’ve got some of my older stuff with me but it feels a little like cheating to wheel something out from the archive. (NB – I did wheel something out from the archive but you’ll have to check back later to find out what…unless you were there.)
Anyway. That’s enough blather for now – I should be making things up.
